Druerne til Mauro Sebaste Barolo Cerretta DOCG 2019 kommer fra en af de bedste crus, Cerretta, fra Serralunga d’Alba.

Jordbunden og markens placering, syd/syd-øst, er nogle af de udslagsgivende faktorer i produktionen af denne vin. Sammenholdt med arbejdet i vinkælderen er resultatet en kraftfuld vin med masser af skønne aromaer.

Vinen har inden frigivelse lagret 30 måneder i franske egetræsfade efterfulgt af 6 måneder i flaske.

Det nænsomme arbejde i marken og den selektive udvælgelse af druer giver en vin af høj kvalitet og høj intensitet. Aromaerne, der møder en, er blandt andet røde frugter, rose, viol, mint og rabarber.

“Fantastic intensity to this with spiced peaches, lemon peel, cedar, cloves and morello cherries on the nose. Full-bodied and sophisticated, with firm, ultra-fine tannins framing long and complex layers of spiced fruit. Drink from 2026.”

“Barolo Cerretta DOCG 2019 is mid-to-deep ruby. Quite a bit of sweet new-oak and gingerbread notes on the nose, covering the sour-cherry fruit. The palate, in contrast, is enormously seductive with lots of juicy fruit and oak notes tied in by lots of chewy tannins. Ready now and it will be interesting to see if, with prolonged bottle age, the oak will either integrate or rather speed up the wine’s maturation.”

“The sizeable Cerretta vineyard contains calcareous and iron-rich soils, creating a backdrop for the structured wines that emerge from this Serralunga Cru. Grapes are hand selected and softly pressed, and after fermentation aged in 400 liter Allier tonneaux for 36 months.

The presentation is light and pale garnet, even lighter than the Trèsüri. Here the aromatics soar with mentholated lift as bright notes of raspberry compote, red stone fruits, cranberry and laser focused minerality build a core of intriguing aromatics. The mouth texture is precise and linear, every dimension carefully delivered and perfectly balanced. The tannins are sweet, ripe, and velvety in texture, reflecting superb vineyard management.

The overall presentation reveals a wine of utter weightlessness. Mauro Sebaste Barolo Cerretta DOCG 2019 is another amazing wine from Mauro Sebaste and his team. Drink 2027-2049+”
